About Us

The Club

 

Established in June 2008, Associated Cyclosportif Trekkers (ACT) is a bicycle-trekking club made of more than 200 members nationwide. The club aims to impact its members and the community more than just promoting cycling as a sport, instead ACT sees cycling as a great platform to nurture good social values, creating awareness on importance of flora and fauna, and more importantly the club believes that cycling is a great tool in inspiring it's members to play their part as responsible citizens towards building a disciplined and healthier generation physically and psychologically- rhyming the country's aspiration in nation building - The 1Malaysia aspiration.

 

ACT focuses on cross-country expeditions, trekking various states and districts in Malaysia. As far it has trailed Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Malacca, Perak, and Pahang through ‘ACT District Expedition Program'. The club has built new friendships and social networking out of these programs, especially with the rural-area community. Its members were benefited by the vast opportunity to explore, experience, to share, and appreciate cultural similarity as well as differences amongst the uniquely multi-cultured Malaysian community.

 

Internationally ACT has collaborated with Assosiasi Sepeda Sport Al-Zaytun (ASSA), an Indonesian-based bicycle-trekking club, in organizing our first very own ‘Tour ASEAN Cycling Expedition' in August 2008. The expedition took both clubs across borders of three ASEAN countries; Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The expedition also commemorated independence days of Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia which all fall in the month of August. Not to forget; The ASEAN Day also falls in the same month, which both clubs also appreciated during the expedition.

 

ACT has aspire and inspire its members towards attitudes of healthy lifestyle while instill good social values in becoming become responsible citizens to the county that upholds religious beliefs, the country's sovereignty and nationhood. The journey has just started and it shall never ends.

Our Mission

1. To promote healthy living that could helps restraining social ills from severing the society and nation.

2. To promote bicycle as a strategic mode of transportation for explorative expeditions to the rural districts to study its economic resources and developments, and also to appreciate the nature’s beauty.

3. To encourage the culture of ‘earth-greening’ and awareness towards ‘global warming’ by collaboratively planting selected trees in the visited districts.

4. To foster friendship and mutual respect amongst the society for the cultures of tolerant and peace to develop.

5.To develop strong and courageous spirit of togetherness to encounter local and global challenges.

President's Message

Bismillahi rahmani rahim

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. First of all, as the President of Associated Cyclosportif Trekkers (ACT) I would like to take this opportunity to thank Almighty Allah for His blessings on series of successes of ACT club. Not to forget - all our members that work hard on and at any given tasks; one mind one heart in ensuring the smooth running of the club.

ACT is a cycling club for all ages. We have done lots of cycling-related activities such as cycling expedition throughout Peninsular Malaysia (including our neighboring countries Singapore and Thailand), districts exploration, tree planting - our symbolic supporting towards greener earth, as well as cycling education for the new joiners. Our cycling expedition is not merely for exercise, it is also a platform for us to express our proud and pride towards the country. We want to take as much opportunity as possible to know and understand our motherland and share it with the world. Next, we are planning our path for a Trans-Borneo (Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and Kalimantan) expedition in the coming few months, Insya-Allah.

I hope to all our members will provide us with full support to make all our activities a success. We also welcome and very glad to work with any interested parties that wish to have ACT as counterparts. With this we hope that together we can uplift the image of cycling in Malaysia as well as the club can progress through time, and later become the club that not only promotes healthy lifestyle, but also healthy minds, healthy souls, that results to healthier generations. My prayer is ACT soon to become No.1 cycling club in Malaysia, Ameen.
